Columbus, Ohio- Yesterday, Ohioans across the state joined the Ohio Democratic Party to make calls and send emails, urging Governor DeWine to veto Senate Bill One. Instead of working to boost education for all Ohioans, Republicans would rather attack the future of Ohio workers and students.
As Ohioans attempted to tell the governor to veto this out-of-touch legislation, DeWine’s office phone regularly went straight to voicemail, and soon enough the voicemail was full. While it’s great to see so many Ohioans making their voices heard, it’s clear that Republicans at all levels of government are running from their constituents because they know their dangerous agenda is deeply unpopular with voters- and DeWine is no exception.
Current and prospective Ohio students, higher education professionals, and businesses will look elsewhere if Senate Bill One is signed into law. Governor DeWine and Republicans in the legislature are gambling with our state’s future in service of their own extreme agenda.
Ohioans see through this latest round of legislation that doesn’t work for our state and are continuing to urge Governor DeWine to do the right thing today and veto Senate Bill One, said Ohio Democratic Party spokeswoman Katie Seewer. “Whether or not this legislation is signed, Ohioans will hold Republicans accountable at the polls for gambling with our state’s future.”
Ohioans can continue to contact Governor DeWine at (614) 466-3555 or by filling out this linked form.
